I suppose someone’s already written about this but I haven’t seen it (yet), so here’s my two cents…

Trolls, Tea Party folks (maybe the same thing – I don’t know), and the other vocal and non-vocal Obama haters… give it a rest.

No, the country is not coming to an end because a Liberal Black man is running the show. No, your guns won’t be snatched, even though there are some who shouldn’t be allowed within a long rifle of anything that uses gun powder.

But there’s panic breaking out all over America – particularly in red states. Why? Because members of America’s privileged class are still trying to cling to the final vestiges of the Old Plantation hate and bigotry that kept them in power for so long. “The “Boogie Man” will come in the night to pay you back for all the lashes, chains, dehumanization you caused in America and around the world for the last four hundred years”.

The gun sales industry and their mouth piece the NRA have, for the last two decades, made a fortune feeding those fears. And ever since POTUS 44 took office, the code words, exclusionary meetings of “like-minded Patriots” (decide for yourself what that term means) has been raised to a fever pitch for multiple reasons, not the least of which are continued political power and financial gain.

The rich have blithely stolen our present and future from us for the last decade or so without suffering any consequences other than the possible threat of a symbolic tax hike on future thefts they manage to harvest.

The fear of the “Boogie Man” has blinded many otherwise clearheaded, sober, middle class Americans to whom our real enemy is. It was a great strategy, drawing on every stereotype we Americans could manufacture about ourselves to help sustain it.

Well, POTUS 44 has had four years to show those who viewed him as the “Boogie Man”, isn’t hiding under the bed or in the closet, or coming in the night for your guns or women. He’s none of what you fear, but he IS in charge.

Obviously, there will always be some who would rather live in the dark world of hate and fear. That’s more comfortable for them than the light of reality. The point is the United States of America is moving into the future – the light. Our re-elected leader will be getting things done for all of us in spite of the name calling, fear mongering and jealous greed some characterize as “political discourse”.

Barack Obama has taken all the vitriol that kind of hate can generate and set it aside – without so much as a public “WTF”. Could you or I in his position do the same? I know I wouldn’t – couldn’t.

But he did, and for now and into the future, we’re all better off for it.
